The International Film School Sydney

The International Film School Sydney offers a unique experience in filmmaking. We offer an intensive two-year hands-on course where you can specialise in Screenwriting, Directing and Producing, as well as groundbreaking new programs in Cinematography, Sound and Editing.

At our film school, you are encouraged to be a distinctive storyteller and artist, and are taught the practical and creative skills you need to build an enduring artistic career in film.

A FILM SCHOOL FOR FILMMAKERS

At IFSS, we value productivity, ambitious creativity, and daring cinema—over two years, you can create up to eight films, meaning you leave with an impressive portfolio for a course of this length.

You produce a comprehensive career plan, a business plan, fully developed screenplays, and you also hone your pitching skills. We also encourage creation of longer works, films that move the audience, and teach you aspects of the craft relevant to short films and features—instead of trapping you in the mindset of the ‘film school’ film.

A RELEVANT EDUCATION

We deliver a thorough technical education in a culture of great invention and discovery, under both top-level industry veterans and fresh new rising talents. Located in inner-city Sydney, Australia, students at the International Film School Sydney can shoot films in some of the country’s most dramatic and iconic locations.

You can also shoot in a range of formats including HDV, 16mm, Super 8mm and XDCAM, and work on our cutting edge in-house editing and sound mixing facilities. This means you’ll learn to be creative and flexible with in a variety of contexts, and graduate with relevant production and post-production experience
