The School's Location
The International Film School Sydney is located in Rosebery, one of Sydney's most central locations. Just ten minutes by car from the CBD, it's handy to both the beach suburb of Coogee with its beautiful ocean beaches and vibrant student night-life and the popular live-music, cinema and cafe destinations of Sydney's inner west.
One of the most stylish parts of the inner west is nearby Newtown. Known for its diverse attitudes and affordable rental accommodation, Newtown is associated with the best in street culture, restaurants, the arts and is known for having great second-hand stores.
Two minutes north-east lies Fox Studios. The studios are the production home of big budget films like Superman Returns, The Matrix and Star Wars: Episodes 2 and 3, and are only ten minutes from the school campus. Adjoining the studios is a modern entertainment complex, complete with cinemas, restaurants, bars and shops.
Beyond Fox Studios, the bustling precincts of Oxford Street extend from Darlinghurst to Paddington and all the way through to Bondi Junction. This well-known strip features Sydney's finest fashion stores, nightclubs, art-house cinemas and specialty bookstores.
Swing back towards the inner west and you'll probably hear the music from Cleveland Street. This cosmopolitan area straddles the suburbs of Redfern and Surry Hills. Beyond is Darlinghurst, celebrated for its wide variety of restaurants, cafes, hairdressers and of course Una's famous Austrian-German comfort food.
Go just a little further afield and you'll get to the suburbs of Glebe and Leichhardt. The diversity of this area provides endless opportunities for distraction. Head here to explore book store heaven or to enjoy the friendliness of Sydney's thriving Italian quarter.
Whether you want to hit the beach, kayak on the harbour or cruise the inner city you'll find everything just a hop, step or a jump from the centrality of IFSS.
