Safina Uberoi

Safina Uberoi trained in theatre and film making before coming to Australia In 1994 to study at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. Safina has made a number of critically acclaimed films but is best known for her film My Mother India (2003, SBS/FFC) which won 11 major awards including the Australian Film  Critics Circle Award for Best Australian Documentary and the Premiers  Literary Award for Best Script.

Safina has also curated 5 festivals of Indian cinema and was twice Board Member of the Australia India Council. She has taught at Macquarie University, the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sydney and the National School of Drama, New Delhi.
